There is a large Earth-facing coronal hole on the sun with slowing solar wind ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBfuTP8_3NU&list=UUTiL1q9YbrVam5nP2xzFTWQ ), where the coronal hole HCP (Heavy Coupled Plama) flow  can be enough to trigger storm weather patterns (like the storm occurring today in SF Bay Area), and where the slowing solar wind can trigger a sudden magnetic impulse that can blow out transformers.

4. It appears that the co-occurrence of transformer failures with bad weather could possibly be correlated effects of a common previously unidentified cause: HCP.
